Originally from Kołobrzeg in North of Poland, Piotr Pietras developed an interest in wine from a young age, going on to do a Bachelor degree in Hotel Management.
Starting his career near his home town in the Sheraton Poznan Hotel, Piotr soon moved to the five star City Park Hotel & Residence taking on the role of Head Sommelier. Given control of the cellar and wine list this resulted in making it one of the biggest and most diverse in Poland.
He moved to London in 2013 to follow his passion and took on his first wine position as Assistant Head Sommelier at Corrigan’s Mayfair and shortly after, moved to the Michelin-starred Maze by Gordon Ramsay.
Piotr was awarded the Best Polish Sommelier in 2015 and 2016 and the 3rd and 2nd Best UK Young Sommelier in 2015 and 2016, respectively. He also recently represented his country in the most prestigious worldwide sommelier contest the A.S.I. Best Sommelier of the World Competition in Mendoza, Argentina where he ranked 10th place out of an astounding 61 competitors.
Piotr has passed the Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Sommelier exam and he is soon taking his Master Sommelier examination. This year, Piotr won the Chaine des Rotisseurs UK best young Sommelier competition. Most recently, he came in second at the A.S.I. Best Sommelier of Europe & Africa competition 2017.
Piotr’s extensive knowledge of both food and wine ensures that only the best wines are selected to accompany Head Chef Ben Murphy’s exquisite food.
